Funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, The Together in Time project is an intergenerational music project involving the local community in Ollerton telling unique and inspiring stories of years gone by. We are currently planning a concert involving local young people to showcase the songs to our community. https://www.superbeecommunitystudio.co.uk/together-in-time
In 2018 we set up a codeclub on a Saturday morning at the local library. All laptops were donated by our network partners and we recruited volunteers to support the young people using scratch modules and other free resources. The club is for 9-13 year olds but the original members have stayed on and they now volunteer and support the newer members.
We supported Chloe to set up her academy with equipment, venue costs and session costs to provide a subsidized club for young people. the club runs twice a week for 8 - 13 year old boys and girls that want to burn off energy, learn new skills and have fun. This club's gone from strength to strength.
We have partnered with ActiveNotts who fund the project, and Walesby Forest Activity Centre to put on a free, welcoming and friendly youth club for 11 - 19 year old's once a month on a Thursday night.
The night includes a hot meal and the young people can take part in a range of activities such as quad biking, laser tag, climbing or they can just hang out with friends.
Severn Trent Community Fund supported us to buy local primary schools, college and community workshop a 3D printer each so that they could run after school clubs and workshops on this exciting new technology. Local young people who are enthusiasts volunteered to run after school clubs in some of our primary schools.
Our network thought it important that young people get involved in their community and wanted to encourage it from an early age. Through our network and organised by the local Town Clerk, we now have a junior town council with representatives elected by their peers from each of the local primary schools. Aged 10, 11 and 12 they meet quarterly to decide what they want to work on to improve our community.
We've teamed up with Sherwood Forest Hospital Trust, ATTFE college and TagTapAR (an augmented reality app) offering young people (16-19yrs) the chance to help their community become more health aware and active by encouraging the use of digital apps at the same time as learning new technical skills.
We've supported Therapeutic Pathways CIC through our network, they offer a pioneering programme to young people suffering with anxiety, depression, low self esteem, feeling lonely and isolated and lacking self confidence. Combining 1-1 sessions, group development and volunteering for a projject in one of our local forests. It's been great fun, making friends and getting themselves back on track.
